Benefits

Preservation of Forests and Bio Diversity

By replacing pulp-based paper, demand for timber for paper production will be greatly reduced. This would preserve existing forests from clear-cutting, improve land management, and protect biodiversity. Additionally, water will be conserved, air quality improved, and chemical pollutants removed from the environment.

Reduction of C02 Emissions

Greenhouse emissions related to harvesting, production, and transportation of pulp-based paper will be reduced as the supply chain for paper production is made more efficient and sustainable. Less demand for pulp will have the virtuous effect of simultaneously reducing carbon demand while preserving forests that absorb carbon from the atmosphere.

Energy Efficiency

Paper production today is highly resource intensive -- from the energy required to harvest the forests, to the mills that produce it, to the transportation from the mills, to the publisher. Replacing pulp-based paper with polymers such as polypropylene greatly improves the production efficiency of paper by eliminating the milling process.
